This painting was originally an abstract painting inspired by a painting technique I had seen on youtube. But I didn't like the process, and the result was therefore far from what I imagined. So I started over with my own technique. I enjoyed the process and decided to keep the same color theme in the painting. In a process where I was in my very own world, the painting ended up being a kind of semi-abstract foggy landscape. And the details just came naturally to me.
If there is anything this painting has taught me, it is to do what you enjoy, and not try to create your own art based on other people's work, although it is of course permissible to find inspiration of others. I enjoyed the process and it resulted in a beautiful landscape that I can really feel proud of.
The title is inspired by a father and son's quality time in nature. I feel that what looks like a distant landscape provides a peaceful moment, which many can compare to a fishing trip at sea.
